I would like to ask you, “What do you see behind the logo of The Provisional National Government of Vietnam – The Third Republic of Vietnam?”, the logo created by President Quan Minh Dao, in 1991. When you see the logo of the Provisional National Government of Vietnam – The Third Republic of Vietnam, do you see an extraordinary, summative and symbolic vision statement, presented with great artistry. Do you see a path and a guide for a PRINCIPAL STRATEGY for the country of Vietnam to achieve freedom again? Today, after nearly 30 years, President Dao’s visions that were recorded in the logo, are happening, in sequence and it is now that we can start to see and understand his extraordinary vision. The PRINCIPAL STRATEGY that was seen and drafted by President Quan Minh Dao was based on the principle of the RE-BIRTH of Vietnam as a free and democratic country. This new country would be nurtured and rebuilt with the constants of enveloping love, patience and resilience, and indomitable spirit and faith. At the same time, the qualities of acceptance and endurance and perseverance, already a part of the Vietnamese psyche, must be allowed to flourish. A fair and just system of judgement for defining and dealing with the WRONG, and the CRUEL, and the UNRIGHTEOUS will be a part of the soul of this new country. Alongside qualities of Forbearance, Forgiveness, Generosity and Toleration. Simplified to a single word or a single image, these words and ideas can be represented by the image of a MOTHER. Or expressed in a broader way it is that “the destiny of Vietnam will be shaped by many women who are wise in the heart and intellectual in the head”. This explains why President Dao has chosen the symbol of a woman with a long graceful dress and a body in the shape of the country of Vietnam. It is this woman who sees the grief and suffering of the people and desires to protect them. The woman’s left hand holds on to a conical hat, symbolizing the unique culture of Vietnam. She is holding the hat against the wind of a storm that represents the dominating communist Chinese regime from the North. The woman’s right hand and arm are fixed in a firm posture holding a baby. Her wide open hand protects her child who is wrapped in the yellow and gold flag of the ARVN. The child represents the generation of ARVN descendants who protect and develop most true cultural of Vietnam. A noteworthy point is that the woman has a slender but fine and solid body, representing the ambitions of the future generations of Vietnamese Democratic Women whose souls are filled with beauty, elegance, harmony, strength and resilience. The woman wears a long dress of heavenly blue color that matches the color of the Virgin Mary’s dress. It is also the color of the hope for a glorious future. Behind the woman is a billowing golden yellow flag of The Republic of VietNam. This describes the rise and fall of previous Republic of VN Constitutions. The end of the flag comes together into a sharp point that represents a convergence into the Third Republic of Vietnam that comes from concentrating the strength of genuine Vietnamese people. These are the people who want to decide the fate of their country with their own power using the referendum ballot. The sharp end point of the golden yellow flag is then attached to the handle of the Magical Sword that has fallen from the sky, piercing the star on Vietnam communist flag which is depicted in the shape of the map of China. This flag is located to represent the South China Sea and the struggle for power in this important and conflicted area. It also highlights by contrast, how powerful the referendum strategy proposed by President Dao can become. The referendum strategy will prevent the devastation of war falling again on the people of Vietnam. This is the path of enlightenment and represents the coming together of the spirits of the mountains and rivers of Viet Nam. Looking back at the logo, the woman’s legs step down on the face of Ho Chi Minh, whose face is framed in red implying he was a Chinese spy who was planted into Vietnam by the Chinese communist highlighting the deception of the Chinese communists and the desire of President Dao to prosecute the protagonists in the International Criminal Court. A single shoe was slipped away from the foot of the woman, lying in the sea near Ho Chi Minh’s face to remind us not to forget the loss, the misery, the brokenness and the disorder and the death of hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese boat people and millions of Vietnamese and allied soldiers during 20 years of VN civil war and all of this was created by evil criminals like Ho chi Minh and the Chinese communist regime whose strategy has been “Using Firewood Bean to Cook Bean – Using Vietnamese to Kill Vietnamese People”. This is why the new Mother of Vietnam is so important ! Julia Bui
